SIMSYM 2024, hosted by the Department of Prosthodontics and Implantology at Saveetha Dental College, was a resounding success, attracting around 300 participants from across India. The event maintained its traditional legacy, marking the fourth consecutive year since its inception in 2022.

This year, the conference featured seven distinguished international speakers who delivered insightful keynote lectures, sharing their expertise and innovations in the field. In addition to the informative sessions, 120 attendees participated in pre-conference courses, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

The conference also included trade stalls showcasing the latest products and technologies, providing participants with opportunities for networking and collaboration. Overall, SIMSYM 2024 not only celebrated advancements in prosthodontics but also fostered a vibrant community dedicated to the growth and development of dental professionals in India.

The recent ITI Institutional Study Club featured expert Dr. Rahul Shah as the keynote speaker. With extensive experience in Dynamic navigation, Dr. Rahul has successfully executed complex procedures, including chairside Zygomatic implant placement – a testament to his mastery of the technology. He has placed over 700 implants utilizing this innovative technique.

Dr. Rahul commenced his lecture with a comprehensive overview of Dynamic navigation, clarifying its technical intricacies for both students and practicing clinicians. Subsequently, he delved into detailed protocols for managing full arches using this advanced system. The session further enriched participants with in-depth case studies that highlighted the success rates and precision of implant placement.

The evening concluded with a live surgical demonstration of Mastoid implant placement on a patient, a ground-breaking application of Dynamic navigation for ear prosthesis support. Overall, the study club provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience of the latest advancements in Dynamic navigation.

The 1st ITI Study Club meeting of 2024, held at Saveetha Dental College, focused on the exciting topic of "Recent advances in Implantology: The digital world." Dr.Vivek Pandian, the speaker, shed light on how Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Computer aided treatment planning, computer aided implant placement both static and Dynamic navigation is transforming the field of dentistry, specifically in the realm of implant surgeries and prosthetics. His presentation centered on integrating digital planning throughout the various stages, leading to a seamless workflow for implant prosthesis delivery.

Dr. Pandian emphasized the growing impact of AI in implant dentistry. This technology allows for a more precise and efficient approach, from initial planning to final restoration. AI algorithms can analyse data such as patient scans and help in planning the case. This can significantly improve treatment outcomes and reduce risks for patients.

The presentation delved into the specific digital tools that are revolutionizing implant dentistry like , 3D Printing solutions, Milling units, Intra-oral scanners, Cast-scanners, Dynamic navigation, Modjaw, Photogrammetry. There was also a demonstration on how the newest system photogrammetry works.
